Abstract Plasticizer migration is responsible for premature coating failure in polyvinyl chloride (PVC) synthetic materials that continue to benefit our daily life as a reliable and cost-efficient simulant of genuine leather. In this context, the establishment standard assays measure rate plasticizers under varying scenarios plays pivotal role comparing durability those PVC-derived leather-simulants. review, multiple methodologies developed over last decade determining plasticizer from PVC are compiled, with their operational principles, merits, limitations being taken into consideration along specific apparatus required each. A concluding section discusses current challenges field, highlights how nuclear magnetic resonance computational simulation surpass conventional yielding intercomparable results, hence screening migration-resistant labor- time-saving way. Since resistance represents decisive performance indicator plasticizers, systematic review may provide guidance quite few practitioners material industry, who now engaged validating various sustainable alternatives allegedly equal but toxic di-(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate plasticizer. Organotin compounds in polyvinyl chloride toys were determined by GC/MS after ethyl derivatization with sodium tetraethylborate.
